This early panel works, with its palpable sense of inertia and dissatisfaction. It's very refreshing, especially since most of the stuff you read from and about teachers in the news is relentlessly upbeat, with stuff about how rewarding every nanosecond of it is supposed to be.
Pedestrian 2 reminded me of a great quote from Bill Maher: "Any teacher that says 'I learn as much from my students as they learn from me' is a shitty teacher and must be fired!"
