You are an expressionist, no three ways about it. Our Hero is slumped in a chair, half-obscured by the doorway, his cigar smoke the bubble for a factual statement about the evening's activity, but with an asterisk to lay on us the content of the movie, which explains the pensive/anxious/despondent expression not only on the face but in his position in the chair. The End! right next to the note on the movie is whimsical and ironic.
Another one I didn't comment on at the time. Oversight corrected!
